If it is your first appointment at Summit, we like to spend a bit of extra time with you. We use this time to review:
- Your medical history
- What has caused your injury or pain, how it happened
- Other relevant information
We then complete a physical assessment of your problem areas, determining your mobility and strength, and what limitations you are experiencing. Finally, we come up with a full plan for treatment. This personalized plan will usually involve hands-on treatment in the form of manual therapy, technology-based therapy, like ultrasound, a comprehensive strengthening and stretching program, and often acupuncture or intramuscular stimulation (IMS).
Our goal with all our patients is to get you feeling healthy and normal as soon as possible. During the beginning of your treatment cycle, you may need to visit us a bit more frequently. As your body continues to heal, and you start to feel better, the number of treatments you require will be less.
Our long-term goal is to assist you in strengthening and gaining flexibility in areas that have caused you pain. This will lower your risk of re-injuring yourself and prevent the pain from returning.
Count on Summit Physiotherapy to be there for you whenever you need a little help to get your body working at its best.
